Wine Recommendations: May/ June 22 Edition

Wow it’s been a busy couple of months! A trip back to the UK in May was fantastic to see family, friends and of course sample a few local English producers. I can’t believe how much the UK wine industry is growing, it’s so exciting. According to Wine GB over 8.7m vines have been planted in the UK over the last five years, and production reached 10.5m bottles in 2019 and 8.7m in 2020!

It’s English Wine Week in the UK this week so while you’re all basking in the beautiful English sunshine I hope you enjoy some of these fantastic local recommendations…

Chapel Down, Kent – Fantastic quality sparkling for the price, and if you haven’t yet visited it’s well worth it.

Hattingley Valley, Hampshire – Their Blanc de Blancs is particularly good but the non-vintage is also delicious, and currently on offer at Waitrose. Plus chief winemaker Emma Rice is brilliant, read more here

Louis Pommery, England – The first of the French to make wine in the UK!

Lyme Bay Chardonnay, Devon – One I haven’t tried but all the reviews sound amazing so let me know what you think!

And of course get yourselves down to my original local Albury Vineyard for delicious English Pinot Noir Rose, sparkling wines and more. Plus if you fancy a spot of touring and tasting over the summer months, read this great article that rounds up some of the top English wineries to visit.

Enjoy, miss you all already! Xx
